Secured to unsecured credit card---possible add cash to initial limit?

After a year of timely payments , my secured credit card at wells Fargo will upgrade to unsecured . In 2 more weeks . Rep said she believes card will have same limit (300)...question .....I have no problem keeping or adding money to unsecured/secured card for higher limit .I specifically wanna use this card for 800 airfare soon (I'm in asia)back to USA . I have a debit card also wells Fargo but much prefer c.c. In this situation ....Also I can show 7000usd in another bank account but I assume this means nothing for proof , ECT ,I'm only hoping to up limit for airfair.....question --open new secured card and keep new unsecured 300use limit or ?   Sorry long winded but try to make issue clear....thankyou!

What are your scores now? Have you looked at any other cards? Maybe you can get approved for an unsecured card with another bank. I can’t comment on how WF handles their limits when changing over to unsecured. Perhaps you can app for a CLI when it changes over.

Can you buy gift cards? Opening a second secured card just for a flight doesn't make sense.

I just got the letter to unsecure my secured card and it specifically says not to increase the limit until after they turn the card into a platinum Visa to make sure the transition goes smoothly.

I'm overseas several more months... I could apply but it's kinda awkward/expensive fedexing sending new card, ect....wells Fargo im keeping same physical secured card that transfers to unsecured....credit score 650 ....I also have a PayPal credit account no balance 250 limit . I've read somewhere try charging over limit and they will sometimes approve . But attempting to up limit to 800usd seems a stretch . Account 4 months old......I'll call and ask wells Fargo but was hoping for some privy history similar experiences before talking to rep cuz some aren't as knowledgeable as others

After the card is converted, you could call and ask for a soft pull increase. If that doesn't go through it will be up to you, to ok a hard pull to get the increase, that way you don't have to have a new card shipped to you.
