Re: Wanting Advice From Someone with Good Credit

Welcome to myfico and I am sorry to hear you are in this situation. Several excellent ideas have been provided above. I'd add that there are also ways to increase your income if you have limited time to take on another job. People have been successful at making $15-$20 per hour from tutoring or offering other needed services, and that can take as much or little of your time as you like. You can also tailor it around your current work schedule. Several people reported mowing lawns on Saturday mornings, helping neighbors with basic computer tech issues, or helping families move and those were extra jobs that could fit around their current work schedule.

I don't know your living situation, but renting out a room in your apartment or home may be a possibility. Perhaps you also have some items you can sell on ebay or Craigslist.

Ultimately, work on increasing income and increasing savings, as both strategies will help you in the long run. Once you get over this hump it may be time to look into a credit union card to increase your options, but the first step is changing and expanding your options for income and savings so this is less likely to happen again.

Sorry this is causing you stress and hang in there. It will work out for you if you are determined to succeed. Try a mix of the solutions suggested here for best results. Smiley Happy

I'd like to say try to get a co-signer to get a personal loan or balance transfer card but even with zero interest that will take 30 months to pay off at 50/mo... you need to increase your income. Plain and simple. Deliver newspapers, get a night job as a gas station cashier, whatever it takes. You'll get through this and will have a hogher respect for credit.

Haha, it's funny you say that, because my wife just picked up a part time job doing ACT/SAT tutoring for $35-$50/hr depending upon what kind of tutoring it is.  It isn't a lot of hours - usually 10 at the most a week - but it gets her out of the house, allows her to do something she likes, and gives us a little extra income.
