She's Baaaaaaaaaaaack! :-)

Hello all you happy credit seekers!  I've been off a while and decided to peep in on what's going on.  I'd like to tell you I've been good and NOT applied for any more credit, but alas, I would be lying. Smiley Very Happy

I responded to a "pre-approval" letter in the mail and got the Discover More card.  Credit line was not indicated at time of approval but got it last week with a measley 3k!  This from a woman who has a 23k cl from PenFed, a 14k from Citi, a 8,7k from AMEX...well you get my drift.

I called to say I wasn't going to activate it and wanted to know why my cl was so low and was told I have a lot of credit.  Well, duh!  Didn't they know that from my credit report so why offer me the card?  If I make six months of on-time payments, they'll increase it.  That's ok, don't even bother.  I'll sock drawer it, as you guys say, because my credit is already "dinged".  That's what I get for being a "credit hog"! Just curious, what are your scores?  I just apped for that card and my scores are in the low 700s, but I have a much much shorter history than you.  No baddies at all, though. Smiley Happy

Starting Score: EQ: 665 - TU: 687
Current Score: EQ: 749 - TU: ---

Re: She's Baaaaaaaaaaaack! :-)

You know, you might want to look at it as a specialty card. Keep an eye on what the current 5% is, and use it just for that.

For instance, it's currently 5% cash back through June in these categories:
Department Stores

Clothing Stores

Home Improvement Centers

Lawn & Garden Centers
So a little fashion shopping, hmmm? At an automatic 5% off of whatever price you see out there.

Next quarter (July - September) is gas and hotels, in time for travel. Who can't use 5% for gas, even if it's capped? Every little bit helps.

So it might not be your automatic go-to card, but you're walking away, leaving money on the table if you just dump it in the drawer. Just a thought... Smiley Wink
