Re: Should I apply for CC?

Well yes - see I have been waiting a year. Thought I had all my ducks in a row when that dawggone Sallie Mae slipped in. I really have been patient. It just isn't apparent here. And now I am down to the wire - ready to apply and realize I have thus mess to clean up. So, I have been working diligently to do so for the last few weeks. I really need to do this soon. I have family waiting on me to tell them where I stand. I want to pronounce with good news. I didn't taking it as attacking but I did take it as a bit judging. I just want to clean this mess up!! And I am trying to learn here. Forgive my impatience.

Sorry, but all I've seen here is people trying to give you advice, but it isn't what you want to hear at the moment.  You mention that could "easily pay the thing off, but I don't want to use my savings for that".  Why would you want to pay interest if you can pay it off? Does the money in savings earn more than the APR you are paying?  You have a 90 day late and unless it falls off relatively soon, you'll be paying for that with any new credit you recieve, if you recieve it.  if this 90 day late is in error, then you need to remedy that situation before you even think about any new credit cards or a motgage.   Pay no attention to the FICO simulator - paying interest, which is probably high, isn't worth any additional FICO points.  Pay it off if you can

I am not "throwing stones" as you have suggested other have done.  Call it "constructive criticism".  You need to sit back, take stock of your situation, fix what can be fixed, and moved on from there - which will take time.  Patience is a virtue!      Smiley Happy
