Hey guys.
I am currently considering the possibility of doing a PC with my Amex Green. Recently, I found out about the PRG benefits and thought about switching to it or maybe to the Gold tier. I have been with Amex for 2 years and I am currently have the BCE with them also. My thought on this is that since I have to pay for the AF of the Green, why not pay a little more for either the Gold or PRG to get more benefit. Some of the benefits I might not need at this point, but they might come in handy in the future. I am not a frequent flyer but that might change in the future but the other benefits like getting more points for using the card in restaurant or paying for gas got my attention. Before you guys saying that I should use my BCE for that, I kind of like accumulating points rather than credit like in my BCE. Of course, I have a Discover card for cash back quarterly but besides that particular quarter, I mostly used my Green for purchasing stuff.
I know that Amex recently raised the AFs for both the Gold and PRG, but not the Green, but the benefits are more likely to offset the AF and I really don't mind paying that, consider you pay about $17 a month for those benefits. Now the question is that should I do it or just wait for Amex to change things with the Green. I heard that we can do PC up or down so in case that I change my mind, I could switch back to the Green. That also brings me up to another question: Will a PC require hard pull or is it soft pull. I am asking this since I just recently had an auto loan and got like 2-3 inquiries on my reports. Hence I would like to minimize the chance of getting a hard pull.
Also, I should have note early that my current credit score is good in the range of 740-750 according to my FICO scores from both Discover and Amex, but I kind of not trusting them since when I bought my new car, the score was actually lower than that.
If it were me...
I'd app PRG get the 50k for 1k spend bonus and cancel the green
However if you PC there will be no HP so really the choice is yours based on what you want out of the card
Also be aware that the PRG has a $100 per year airline credit and if used correctly makes the actual cost of the AF the same as green ($95)

How the hell is the 50K for 1K found??? Also, if found, does it apply to current Amex Members?
I want THAT offer but just can't seem to find it.
On a side note, I've also hear that the CSP tend to have the 50K for 1-3K (currently at 4K) offer?! Is that 1-3k correct and if so, where could it be found?

Lol SMH
You have to search for it....use different browsers, clear history
And yes it is available to new Amex customers or Amex customers who haven't had the card before
As to CSP haven't seen that bonus offer in a long long time and actually I doubt it will return ...The card and the value of UR points is just to popular for Chase to consider IMHO to lower the spend for bonus

10-Q that gives me hope.
And I've read (many times) about clearing browsers, incognito mode, cookies...etc..etc...but after the second-foruth try, I get agitated of not finding it and usually give up. I need to work on patience... After I'm done reading the forums today, I'll give it another shot -
As for the CSP, it's ok. I need a new bed ( had the freaking SAME ONE for 7 YEARS now ..smh...sigh...) and want a Spinning Spin Bike (because I hate those resolutioners who flock the gym every Jan-March. Once March 13-15 hits, they will soon return to their old ways -eating cheeseburgers, pizza, cheetos, donuts...all those foods that makes them very, very happy. But most importantly, leave the gym; which, makes ME, along with other regulars, VERY happy.) so, I think that's an easy 4K!
Whatever you do, it's probably best to avoid the regular Gold from an ongoing rewards/benefits perspective. PRG offers a lot more for an additional $35.
