So you don't need it, but you can have it if you want, lol.
But those 20 dollars!! LOL. TBH, the exorbitant SUB on the CSR makes up for a lot of the pain of the AF.

Yes indeed, SUBs nowadays are extremely enticing, lol.

OP if you know you are in the garden til 5/24 and 2020, then this discussion is premature. If you don’t already have a Chase account it seems a remote possibility to get an in branch offer.
Stick with the garden.
Enjoy the earn rate with Gold. Use the BBZp for other MR.
In 2020, look ar the possibility of Chase.
Yeah I don't think I am getting in with Chase until 2020 anyway, you are right. It is nice to see the rewards really rack up with my cards haha.
Maybe just garden and occasionally pick up a bonus on some airline or hotel card, possibly with the intention of dropping it after a year or two.
Using your average CL and $5k family annual travel spend as a proxy for your overall spend, it doesn't sound like you spend enough to justify adding URs on a long-term basis, particularly when it would take multiple cards and more than a year to do so.
Keep in mind AR gives good value as an off-category card where mobile payments are accepted. BBP gives great value where Amex is accepted, and you can transfer MRs to Aeroplan for awards on United metal. I like CFU as an off-category card beyond BBP, but I have a lot of Costco spend and the BBP $50k cap is a constraint for me.
