I have 1 credit card and I am never remotely close to maxing it out.
The maximum payment I remember making on it was $400 because I always pay it early.
Total credit available is $5,500
My Fico score is more than 770. That said, the bank has no proof that I can manage many credit cards effectively, therefore I dont want this to backfire.
Am I being smart with managing my credit?
Should I wait longer until I pay it off?
Should I open a new credit card, even though I dont need it?

If you are paying your statement in full before or by the due date, then I would say that's good management.

I would never recommend to anyone to wait to the point of paying interest on any card.

You can look at this a couple of different ways. Having more than one revolving TL can help increase your score and shows you can manage multiple accounts, as long as you're using them responsibly. But then again, I don't think it's wise to apply for things merely to be applying. If you don't need something, it may not be necessary. But if you can utilize some rewards and such by getting a second card, then I say go for it.

+1, Wise words. If you feel the need for more credit, then apply for whatever might fit those needs. But as you said, you've got what you want, you've got a good score, so just proceed slowing and cautiously. Get what you want, not what you need.
