Should I take the hit now for DCU??

So I'm in the garden for cc apps. My last app was 2 months ago which ended in denials. I've got a ton of inquiries and some new accounts this past year, and decided the best course of action was now to garden for 2 yrs.  Well, I'd like to have a DCU cc, and I think my chances of getting a decent limit would be to wait and app for the cc in 2 yrs after gardening. My question is this... Should I go ahead and app for membership now, take the hit and build a relationship with them the next two years, then app later on for the card, or wait and do it both together in two years??

Thanks Smiley Happy

just to clarify, the HP would only be for membership, not to apply for credit.

You might want to wait more than 6 minutes to bump your own thread.

Re: Should I take the hit now for DCU??

I could never figure out what is so special about DCU. The as low as 1.49% auto rates look good but their credit card seems very boring and the rewards card as low as 11.25% seems a little high to me. Also the double pull one for the account the other for what you want is not fun either. But as for your question OP i would take the HP hit now, build a relationship.  A good CU should always value a relationship over anything else.

AMEX PRG NPSL,Lowes $17000,Capital One venture card $12,000,Us Airways mastercard $9500,Fidelity Amex $9000, Discover it $8000, Capital One Venture One $7500, BOA 123 rewards $7500 CSP $6000, Capital One Quicksliver $5500, Amazon Store card$5000,Barclay
Card Ring $5000 Chase Marriott $5000,Chase Hyatt $5000, Sallie Mae Mastercard $4400, Paypal smart connect $4000,Chase Freedom $3200, Capital one Quicksliver visa $3000, Chase IHG Rewards $2300, Chase Southwest Premier $2000, Citi Double Cash $1500, AMEX BCE $1000

Last app July 22nd 2015- No apps for two years.

Re: Should I take the hit now for DCU??

Thank you big blue!!

Since I have a recent bk (1 yr old now), I obviously want a higher limit card sooner than later, and have researched DCU some. I figured the HP ill take now for membership will be gone in yrs when I want to apply for the card. I don't know.... I'm torn!

I think this is the draw for many.  I know it was for me.  Will make the trip to the dealership much less stressful.
