I use Citi Double Cash / Capital One QS for daily cards
Sallie Mae for Amazon/Gas/Groceries
AARP for Restaurants
Shop Discover Online Shopping
Amex BCE for Costco.. lol
For me it's the Citi Diamond the last few months and most likely thru most of 2015. It's a decent limit and 0% apr through next year.
I don't get a regular paycheck per say. I buy material, do the work and send a bill so being able to carry an interest free balance when necessary is important to me since not everyone is quick getting a payment back for the work.

No offense but everyone's spend isn't identical. There's certainly a point to be made on spreading spend for rewards too thin but that point is going to differ from person to person.
If you just cash rewards at year end, it generally works out, even if you're spreading thin.
1) SM for farmer's market/gas
2) BCP for Supermarket
3) AARP for eating out
4) Freedom for Q4 Amazon (otherwise SM)
5) Discover IT for all other online shopping Q4 (basically all of my non-Amazon xmas shopping)
6) DC for everything else.
When in doubt, Wallaby to make sure I'm using the right card.
I've settled on Citi Double Cash / BofA Cash Rewards for daily cards. BofA 20% CB (BankAmeriDeals) at RadioShack this month
Sam's Club exclusively for 5% Gas/3% Restaurants
Freedom WILL be for Q1 5% Groceries (Nice Timing since without Sallie Mae)
PayPal Extra MC Online Shopping
Sallie Mae takes care of the vast majority of my spending. Gas, groceries, and Amazon are easily my three biggest categories. I will use my Freedom if it is spending in a bonus category. BoA Cash rewards only if my Sallie Mae categories are used.
Honestly, I use one card right now. Just one. It works for me and is a lot less to remember.
I use my csp , playstation card , Amex everyday (Costco only really ) , chase freedom and my mlb card
DC is my default card. Sallie Mae for groceries. Fidelity Amex for Costco gas. Trying to sd Freedom - after grocery quarter and restaurant quarter, I'll have $25. Still use Disover for catagories. Now that there is no redemption minimum, it's easier to get cashback. I do try to use the least number of cards possible while still maximizing cashback.
