Re: Six years no CLI...

I've never found a credit simulator to come anywhere close to estimating what my actual credit score has done.  A mortgage on your credit report is probably one of the best things you can have on there.

If the Amazon card bugs you that much (it would bother me $400 limit for 6 years!!??), call retention and tell them you will be putting all your spend on Barclays Sallie Mae unless they give you a useful limit.  If they refuse, I'd just close it and get the latter for better rewards.

Re: Six years no CLI...

Thank you all for your responses. I didn't even know that you could combine credit lines etc. I am having some eye-opening times on this forum. lol I am trying to get my game plan together for when the house does close. I am so sick of this amazon card. it's a pain in my tail pipe to have it just beacuse it's another payment to make. lol I feel like I am in limbo waiting for the house to go through. How long after you close on a house can you apply for say, a Home Depot Card to get appliances?

A lot of people apply for cards right after they buy their houses. You'll see a lot of "post house closing app spree" threads.

Also, try sending a secure message to chase. They were able to bring my slate from 500 to 1k without a hard pull that way. Not a whole lot, but without a HP I'll take what I can get.

Re: Six years no CLI...

what is 750 per month? The amount I have to put on the card per month or the limit?

Well... I was messing with the simulator and once I close on the house it looks like I'll take a 30 point dip. I was also hoping that the increase would help my score by increasing my debt ratio etc. It's a short sale so all I got is time on my hands lol what is the retention center?

After you close on your house there should be a delay before it actually reports on your credit. Usually this delay is anywhere from 30 to 90 days before you first begin to see your mortgage report depending on the lender. During this time would be the best time to use your credit.
