So apparently US Bank is no longer allowing customer-initiated, guaranteed SP CLIs... :(

So after over an hour on hold to reach a US Bank CSR, I was told today that US Bank is no longer allowing customer-initiated SP-guaranteed CLIs Smiley Sad  This is in direct contradiction to when I called about a month or 2 ago, and talked to a previous US Bank CSR who said the exact opposite and even offered to take my SP CLI request.  I should have taken the previous CSR up on that offer, but based on her advice at the time that I could potentially get an even higher CLI if I waited about 6 months, I decided to wait.  After thinking about it later on though, I changed my mind and was again interested in a SP CLI sooner rather than later, hence the call in today.  Plus there had been at least one forum poster here who had mentioned that US Bank had been open to SP CLIs up to $1.5k soon after receiving the card...apparently no longer though.

Instead, the CSR from today said that they can try to SP, but there is no guarantee that it will stay a SP.  When I specifically asked if there was a way to do a SP and if then later required a HP, to stop the process before a HP was taken, she replied that there was no way to do that.  She said that the only alternative was to wait up to another 6 months and that US Bank will either automatically grant a SP CLI, or invite me to receive a CLI.  Again, directly the opposite of what the previous CSR said...live and learn I guess...  Smiley Sad

Sorry to hear. My experiences with US Bank have always been negative.

OP, did you just recently get the card? If so, be patient, grasshopper. With consistent usage, an auto CLI is very likely at 9 to 10 months. USBank is quite conservative, until you build some history with them. Set up your Cash+ to include 5% on fast food and use it for that, to get small charges on it and build some experience.  The CL will grow over time.

Good luck!

I think you just need more patience. Your Cash+ is fairly new IIRC. I didn't get any auto CLI on it until it was 9 months old. That seems to be about the standard timeframe.

I received auto CLIs on both of my US Bank at the 9-10 month time frame. My Ace started at $4,500 and my upgraded Cash+ started at $5,500 once trust is confirmed they have been generous to me with a $27,500 net income. Never had or have any other accounts with US Bank.

I don't think US bank has ever offered guaranteed SP customer initiated cli, when ever I have called for a cli they say it could be a HP or a SP and neither a csr or a supervisor can see which it is going to be.
But as others have said 9-10 months seems to be the magic number for a auto cli

They were never guaranteed, requests up to 1.5k at 6 month intervals for established (not <9-12 months old) accounts are SP if eligible, requests >1.5k generally result in HP.

Relying on US Bank frontline csr f/b on the topic is a fruitless endeavor, they simply don't know with certainty how a request will be handled by U/W. There are not ever any guarantees with CLIs, in any case, I'd sooner hang up and try again later than wait on hold for over an hour.

Every time I've request a CLI, I do so online . . . I always request 1,500.00 (nothing more), and it is always a SP.  I don't think the reps are allowed to tell you it will be a SP.
