Renews in a couple months...but decided to kick it to the curb as it seems to be unreliable, mysteriously imposed transaction limits, lack luster 'concierge' service, mediocre rewards, and yes....high annual fee. MyFICOers, you were right...a lot better options out there for that type annual fee.
PIF every month
they did raise my limit to 50k at my request
Limited my transactions to 10k max per swipe...huh?
had to follow up twice with concierge on some requests that were not followed thru by their staff
have 200k in a CD as well.. at their bank
1% Debt load
all 3 scores hovering around 790 - fico 8
declined transaction for too high of an amount....20k for a cruise against a zero balance 50k limit card. Thanks for saving me Chase Saphire Reserve!
sorry....not doing anything more with them (Barclays)...

Thanks for that honest review, @Spotsy. I've read of several members who had the Luxury Card and have visited the website many times to see if I'm missing something. While it appeared that I wasn't, Barclays is a major bank and I thought maybe there was more to the card than met the eye. The "concierge services" seemed to be what might make it more worthwhile, but your review shed some light on that as well. It did fall into my grouping of potentially high CL cards which has been one goal for me, but it sounds like the value is not there in the least for the AF. In particular, I'm really surprised about the per-transaction limits they placed on the card. The advice to the community is invaluable.
Thanks for your reply @Aim_High . Others may have a better experience, but mine was aweful. The 'straw that broke the camels back' was the transaction limit as the reason for the denial. I lost all confidence in the card working when needed. I can't see paying 1k a year for a card that may or may not work.
I'm kind of curious why you reached for the Barclays card first instead of the CSR for a major travel purchase, given the difference in rewards and presumably travel protections. Is your CSR limit not much more than the $20k purchase amount?
Anyway, that card family has always gone for image over value...the $995 Gold most of all.
@wasCB14 Merely for putting spend on the Luxury Card. I can't say that I was going to keep it at renewal in January anyways ...this 'situation' simply accelerated their demise in my wallet.
May it RIP. I don't blame you for cutting ties. SMH.
