Re: Soft Pulls

Both sites are legitimate.  However, neither site has ever generated a soft pull on any credit report from the 3 CRAs.  I've checked multiple times for fun over the past year or so.  Not a single soft pull happened from checking those sites.  I believe both of these sites simply check to see if you have a preapproval against a soft pull of your credit they've initiated in the recent past.  If anyone had a different experience, I'd love to hear it.  Smiley Wink

Re: Soft Pulls

I think that is right...   It also seems that if you have a freeze, you will not get a preapproval offer... but when the freeze was off, I did get AMex preapprovals...  but I never saw a soft that said Amex (unless it was named differently)

the HSBC site does result in an Experian soft pull though...  Last fall I generated a bunch of softs before finally going for that Weekend Card that kept coming up...  I was approved actually.

Yep, same here.  HSBC always generates a soft pull from their preapproval site on my EX.  Using the BoA, Amex, and Cap 1 preapproval/preselected sites have never generated a soft pull on any report that I can find.  Sorta wish they did.  Smiley Tongue

Re: Soft Pulls

Same here, B of A & Cap One sites have never generated a soft pull for me/DH.  My understanding is they simply check to see if you have any standing offers.

Re: Soft Pulls

With using the soft pull site, what happens if they say no. and that the site might be down??? Does that just mean no and they are trying to make me feel better or that the site is reaaly down?

Re: Soft Pulls

I've never seen a soft pull on EX for Amex preapprovals but I did notice I only started to get preapprovals once my report was clean. So how did they know that if they do not pull?
