Been carefully managing scores and applications.
Applied to Chase in July and requested a total of $4.5 in BTs to pay down to close to limit cards. Declined on card AND BTs and rep told me to call her back if/when I paid the balances lower on the other cards. So I paid them IN FULL and faxed her Balance Summaries, Payments, etc and highlighted both to show the payment amounts and that I had, as per her request, paid these in full and they were now at ZERO Balance.
She said great, and approved me.
So when I activated the rep said 'ok your current balance is $4500'. ???
She put the BTs through anyway. The ones that were declined that I subsequently paid down to $0. The rep said 'sorry for the inconvenience'. Inconvenience being I had to wait for those to go through, then call the other cards and request checks for the credit overages to be mailed to me. Waited two weeks. In the interim called Chase again and noted I had been charge $150 for the BTs I didn't ask for (or to be more precise, was declined for). They said they'd monitor and reverse once I paid them back.
Called ANOTHER rep and complained my credit report would now show a maxed out new card and destroy my utilization since the BTs to the other cards were to ZERO balances and would not reflect. He said don't worry, we won't report for 60 days and by then it should be back to zero. I said please make sure so, because I am up for a CL Increase from HSBC and Citi this month.
So I got checks, deposited, waited to clear, paid Chase online and wouldn't you know it? They reported the maxed out new chase in two weeks anyway.
Called Chase. Sorry for the inconvenience. Can you please remove the report or update? Sorry, can't do that, sorry for the inconvenience.
Supervisor. As I explain he interupts to ask 'i'm still waiting to hear what you want me to do'. So I tell him. He says no, we can't a) remove from CRs b) update early c) increase line. Sorry for the inconvenience. I told him my TU score has dropped from 705 to 679 because of this and it will affect my ability to get credit and possibly interest rates from other cards. Sorry for the inconvenience. Attitude was snippy, as if I was bothering him. Told me the guy who said they wouldn't report was 'techinically right' because they report withing 30-60 days. I said he SAID 60, #1, and it tookd 15, #2. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Finally he said he would send me a fax on letterhead confirming new zero balance.
Not sure how much good that is going to do me. My score still plummeted.
My TU is down to 679, and my Efax, which popped to 720 anyway, would probably be 2o points higher as my util would go from 16 down to 5. How is a letter going to help????
