Hi all,
I'm currently looking to open the Southwest Airlines card as I fly for work and the benefits are inline with what I'm looking for in my next card. I filed CH7 Bankruptcy and had my debts discharged in Decmeber of 2022 and can't really find whether or not Chase will reject me due to a bankruptcy on my record.
I currently have these cards: Brightway Card from OneMain Financial, Savor One from Captial One, Venture One from Capital One, and Quicksilver Card from Capital One.
My currently scores are: Equifax - 701, Transunion - 712, Experian - 712
I never burned Chase in my bankruptcy. The banks I burned were American Express, Citi, and Wells Fargo.
Do I have good odds at getting accepted for the SW Airlines card? I'm open to alternatives also as I want to expand my credit lines and because all of the cards I have are Mastercards.
Thanks!
I think it is too soon for Chase. They usually want reports clean of bankruptcies.
Appreciate the info. Feel like thats the case with many. Would you happen to know anything about the Barclays American Airlines CC requirements? I had the Citi AA card and burned it in my bankruptcy but the Barclays version is comperable but unsure if they too aren't bankruptcy freindly.
Barclay's can be bk friendly as long as you did not burn them. Just not exactly sure how far out you have to be. One thing they are great with is recons. I had limited credit out of bk, they approved with a recon..
Recon as in a reconsideration after being reject after the initial application? Appreciate the feedback!
Check out this thread in the Bankruptcy forum, there are a few reports of people getting approved by Chase with older BKs.
My Chap 7 BK discharged 11/2019. I recently got approved for an Amazon Prime card (underwritten by Chase) with a $900 CL, scores in the mid-600's. Hubby and I also got approved for a loan through Subaru (Chase) in March with a rate of 7% and no money down - not sure if they have similar criteria, but I was pleasantly surprised about this. Finally, I was approved for the Carnival CC (underwritten by Barclay's) with a $4k limit right after.
You already have the Capital One Trifecta. If you want a good general travel card with a high limit I would work on getting the Penfed Pathfinder once you're two years post BK. Otherwise garden and use your trio setup to improve your CLI, and PC chances. This is just my opinion.
