Speedy Rewards Mastercard issued by FNBO

I got an email today from Speedway (my favorite gas station because of the loyalty program) advertising the Speedy Rewards Mastercard from First National Bank of Omaha. This card makes it so that you gain even more Speedy rewards points when you use it. I REALLY really want to apply for this card because I love building up points and redeeming them for stuff, but I don't want to get denied for the card either and waste a HP. My EQ fico is 646, TU fico is 655, EX fico is 647. I'm working on rebuilding and waiting for derogs to fall off, but still have ALOT of derogs (26 medical bills on TU in collections, 11 on EQ, don't know how many on EX). So I'm assuming that I would be declined for the Speedy rewards mastercard because of this. I do have several credit cards and store cards all in good standing and 2 paid off car loans, but the derogs are probably going to get me denied, right?

The email mentioned a secured version of the Speedy rewards CC also. This version of the card has a $30 AF (no AF on the unsecured version) and says they will look at graduating the card to an unsecured version after a minimum of 11 months. I considered applying for this one, but the $30 AF makes me hesitant. I hate apping for cards with a AF. I like that it can unsecure eventually, but still.

Thoughts? Experiences with FNBO secured and unsecured cards? Do I have a chance of at least getting the secured version or should I wait and keep gardening? Does FNBO pull multiple bureaus or just one?

Have you applied? I'm curious as to what you decided. I would call FNBO and ask if u apply for the MC and denied could u use the same app to apply for the secured. Then I would hang up, post ur finding and see if a guru will give feedback.
Current Scores as of 8/18/17 all FICO 8 EQ: 695 EX: 673 *fico2 699 TU:645 bio has more.

I don't have the app anymore, but I remember Speedy points being worth next to nothing a piece.

IMO a cash back card such as the USAA limitless or the Citi Double Cash would be a much better option for those who can qualify for the unsecured version, but any secured card with rewards are is pretty solid.

I seem to remember that having a plain Speedy Rewards Card earns you far more points than the credit card.

Okay, just looked... on non Speedway purchases you earn 10 points per dollar spent. This works out to be roughly 1% cash back when redeeming for gift cards. Speedway purchases give you 50 points per dollar, or roughly 5%.

Not too bad, but their selection of gift cards is limited.

Re: Speedy Rewards Mastercard issued by FNBO

Yes, as the poster above said, the extra speedy points really sound enticing lol. I usually redeem my Speedy points for a gas card, so the variety of gift cards available doesn't really make a difference to me. Redeeming for a gas card costs less points so that's why I do it, and I'm gonna use gas anyway so it seems like a win-win.

Dalmus, I see in your signature that you have a card from FNBO. How did it go getting a card through them, did they take a long time to approve? I read that they do all manual reviews. So it concerns me that I might not even qualify for a secured card through them, although I already have other CCs and so they should be able to see that despite my derogs, I can use credit responsibly now....idk what they would think though.

Re: Speedy Rewards Mastercard issued by FNBO

I applied for the Speedy Rewards Mastercard Saturday afternoon (2-10-2018).  It looked like it was processing the application for a couple of  minutes. It ended up prompting me with something about receiving my application and i would here something by mail in 7-10 days.  Today, i recieved a phone call from Bankcard Services FBNO and the CSR said she was calling to confirm my information.  She asked me for my full name and to spell it out for her. Then she confirmed  date of birth and last 4 of my social.  Then asked if there was a post office box attached to my residential address. I said yes and the reason there is a postal box address is because the town i live in is very small and doesn't have mail carrier delivery. She asked for my post office box number  because she needed to make sure they used that address to mail my credit card out to. That was the extent of the phone call.  So I assume i was approved for the Mastercard and it will be in the mail.  My credti background in case you needed to know.  I was post bankruptcy in February 2013.  I have build an extensive list of credit cards and creditors mostly with Syncrony credit cards, Comenity credit cards, 2 Navy Fed Visas, Discover IT card, 5/3 Master Card, few other bank cards.  I closed on a house in July 2017 with Quicken Loans (great way to get a mortage with 4.125% interest, FHA).  I have several inquiries and my FICO is 680.

Re: Speedy Rewards Mastercard issued by FNBO

Hi, I applied a 2 days ago for this card as well because I like going to Speedway for gas and their rewards program is great. I also said I'd be notified in 7-10 days but you can actually check your application status on their website. I was approved for $4,000 credit line with a TU of 640 with a bankrupcty on my file. No late payments but a higher utilization ratio. The interesting part of this is that I have yet to get an alert of a hard inquiry on my credit report.
