State Department FCU(SDFCU) - Credit Card

Good Morning All,

Just wondering if anyone is a member of this credit union and if you have their credit card. Their rates look very attractive, but from the minimal information out there on them, they seem on the harder side to obtain. I know they pull Experian and seem to be all over the place. Some people approved only with higher EXP scores, then their are some approvals with people with bankruptcies. Do you have their card, and if so, do you mind sharing your profile, scores, etc.

Appreciate everyones feedback.

SDFCU has a minium score requirement ( i dont know what that score is currently but I heard its low), They also have a debt to income requirement, income verification, and I believe they also look at unpaid collections and charge offs (age, amount, explanation.

Wow! Mind sharing your score/stats? Did you request that amount and was it an instant approval, or did they manually review?

Re: State Department FCU(SDFCU) - Credit Card

I think my scores were around 740. Had a review because I have 5 amexes backdated to 1970 and I'm only 33. Had to explain backdating and they approved.

Re: State Department FCU(SDFCU) - Credit Card

I'm not sure what stats you want. I know my Fico was around 740. My aaoa was 10+. Not sure about util but if I had to guess I'd say around 20%. Biggest limit is $45k and total limits prob around $400k. Most cards are $15k+. No negs or lates. Prob best I can do for stats. I think my income was low $200k at the time. But didn't need any verification.

Re: State Department FCU(SDFCU) - Credit Card

I called SDFCU and spoke with a loan processor regarding Visa qualifications. She could not tell me all the approval criteria details but she did tell me the following:

  • Minimum credit score is 580
  • They pull Experian and use a FICO score. Did not know what version of FICO
  • Interest rate is determined by score. Range is 6.99 to 14.99. No AF, FTF, Cash Advance Fee
  • They also consider debt to income ratio
  • I asked about negative credit enteries on report and she could not tell me because she is not an Underwriter. My guess is that paid charge offs and collections are ok and Underwriter would need further review and uses their discretion on unpaid items.

Overall this is a good card product.
