Someone asked what type of card it was it was a Discover Motiva Card. Someone also asked about my salary - it is $86,000.00. I misquoted the $500 card - it is a SUBprime card - not a prime card. I asked the Subprime card company for a CLI a couple of months ago and they flat out denied me - but I think that is the nature of subprime cards. As far as what I did, I paid down my little $500 credit card. I also disputed and PFD'd about 6 collection agencies including TWO collection accounts from AFNI. I really had to battle AFNI but eventually won by going through the Illinois AG's Office and being very thorough about following up. I really put the pressure on the Illinois AG's Office to sue AFNI because there is a provision in the FCRA which allows them to do this. So, in turn the Illinois AG's office put pressure on AFNI and AFNI agreed to do a 1 for 1 - if I paid off one of the collection accounts, they would delete both accounts and they did - the whole thing took about 8 months though. I have learned SOO much on this board about how to improve your credit score and followed everything to the letter but I still have to say that the FICO scoring system is unfair and really penalizes the poor and people who struggle. I hate playing "the game" but I feel forced too.
