Supercheck??

So Wells Fargo sent me a super check today claiming I can do a bt for 0% interest (5% fee). My question is will this bt be applied to my current wells cc or are they offering me another card. Read the fine print on the offer and it wasn't clear. After I checked this site I read about a "bt card," now I'm really confused. FYI I've been doing exceptionally well on rebuilding the last two years and did a bit of xmas shopping after my CL is finally something worthwhile.. At about 70% utilization on this card. With a plan to pay it off in by the end of next month. Didn't like the interest payments was billed this month

Re: Supercheck??

It's probably a balance transfer check that can be used to pay off another balance/purchase or deposit to your checking account. In other words, use it like a normal check. The amount will be counted toward your credit line on the credit card at the promotional rate (0% APR) and fee (5%) listed in the fine print.

As your credit card is already near max (70%), adding more balance is not a wise idea as maxing cards brings adverse action from lenders. Also, 5% fee is not a good deal, unless you really need it to pay off a high interest balance. Normal balance transfer fee is 3%. I get 2% BT check regularly and my dad sometimes get 1% BT check.

More info is needed to answer your question.

You have a WF CC. You got a mailer with a BT Super Check from WF. That BT check is for the WF CC, not a new CC.

The card with the 70% Utilization, is that the WF card, or another CC? Because if it is the WF card, the BT check is useless for that.

Do you have any other credit cards?

Re: Supercheck??

I have a cap1 qs1, which has the 70% balance and a wf platinum visa. At less than 30% I think I'll eat another month of interest fees and pay off the qs1

That will work. It's usually best to try to zero that card which is getting the BT offer, before BT onto the card. It makes it easier to enjoy the 0% APR.
