I never got one of these before. A recent $50 payment towards my Synchrony PC Richard CC was rejected for the following:
We were unable to process a recent payment on your P C RICHARD & SON/SYNCHRONY BANK account due to
invalid banking information. As a result, your payment in the amount of $50 scheduled on 08/12/22 will be reversed from your account.
We determined your bank account was invalid or closed based on information received from GIACT Systems LLC, a consumer reporting agency. GIACT did not make the decision not to process your payment and is unable to provide you with specific reasons why the decision was made.
I confirmed that the information on Synchrony's website for TD is 100% correct. There is money in there and other payments from other accounts have been paid from that account with no issue. I have written to both TD and Synchrony to find out what this is all about.
Side note: I never even heard of GIACT. My main concern now is that Synchrony is going to think I have issues paying my bills when I don't. Also the request to get information from GIACT almost looked like an AA letter for a rejection of credit ![]()
Has this ever happened to anyone and with GIACT?

Not from Synchrony but twice in the past I've had returned payments through my (now closed) Chase Amazon card because they said my NFCU account that I had my autopayments setup from was invalid. Never mind that I had more than enough money in the account, never mind that all my other bills had no problems being paid from that account, never mind that if I made a manual payment to Chase the money went through just fine...only autopayments failed. Each time the first autopayment went through fine then the next month it would fail saying invalid account. I would make a manual payment from that exact same account and it would go through fine, then I had to call Chase and have everything reversed. It was infuriating. Neither Chase nor NFCU could ever figure it out.
In your case Synch probably has something messed up just like Chase did with me and they'll always blame you instead of acknowledging any problem with their system. Then again I would definitely call because a returned payment is kind of a big deal and if you make a stink about it the customer service agent might be able to get it removed. Chase agents did it twice for me. Good luck!

It happened here for a Synchrony Amazon card (using an external checking account on autopay). Every information was correct but they could not do autopay from their end (their website was very buggy at that time). Since the payment due was missed, instead of fixing issues at their end, they closed the account. Anyway, I should thank them that closing the account was smooth and it was reported "closed by grantor".
Since that time, I never trust autopay. I set each card for autopay (min payment) while I also pay each card manually (PIF).

That's really weird because their job is to authenticate account, and that's normally done after payment account is added, not at some point later or for each payment cycle.
Is it joint account by any chance? Have you moved since it was opened?
It's totally bizarre for sure
The old Reagan "trust, but verify" routine. I think it's always a good idea.

No, not a joint account, and I moved 8-years ago, but I opened this account AFTER I moved.
