Synchrony Toys R Us MasterCard confusion

I noticed an alert that an account changed on my credit report. My Toys R Us Mastercard changed from ‘ Toys R Us DC’ to ‘Synrchony MC.’ The log in is different now too it shows a synchrony MasterCard logo. This prompted me to call and see if my account is changing. Everyone says the same thing.. they can’t see if my card is converted but I’ll receive something in the mail or email ( which I never have) if my account ‘qualifies.’ Who knows what that means. I was also told if it doesn’t qualify it’ll just get closed and they can’t tell me when or how. Seems pretty dumb they can’t tell me but I’m assuming that means my account will just get closed.

If you have the Mastercard, you should be getting the Synchrony Mastercard . Those with store cards are SOL I believe.

Yeah I figured that too but then I was told ‘ it will only be for qualified MasterCard holders.’ If you don’t qualify then your account gets closed even if it is an r us MasterCard. Just seems weird they can’t tell you if you qualify and what that even means. I’ve always paid my bill and I have a good credit score don’t I qualify? We can’t tell you.. ok... lol

The bank is run by a bunch of jokers I just wish they didn’t have a monopoly on basically all the store cards I have use for lol.

I just logged into my account and my mastercard account has been closed.  Does this mean i did not qualify for the new card?  I had a 7k limit.  I also have the walmart mc 10k paypal mc 10k nissan mc 6.6k - all synchrony.  I cant imagine how i didnt qualify.  There havent been any negative marks on my report since i got those other synchrony cards and my utilization is always below 5%

OP I just wanted to say I feel for you. What a terrible way for them to do business. To claim they do not know, and wait for an email or letter.  That's non sense. I hope it works out for you. I my self really just dom't care much for Synchrony. Thye have my JCP and Chevron card but I cringe at applying for anything more wiht them. From what I have read here, and the few instances of experience myself with them, I just don't care to do more business with them than is absolutely necessary.

Just got my new ones in the mail today. $25k limit still in tact. No real plans to use them so I will sock drawer for the time being. My TRU MC used to have some bonus specials so I will see if those cease to be offered. If they do, bye bye card.

I chatted with a rep today and he informed me that my account was closed due to inactivity and not tru closure.  I hope my other synchrony cards do not suffer the same fate.  But, others should not be concerned about my account clossing unless they also do not use their card.

Which makes perfect sense if the account stays dormant for sometime. When was the last time you used it?
