Synchrony Verizon Visa - Arghhh

I got the Verizon Visa just to save the $20 a month paying my bill.  Synchrony is going to be the bane of my existence.

I want to like the card, can get some nice points, Verizon Dollars aside.  They gave me a nice SL of $7800.  But I'm finding it impossible to manage the card as far as reporting.

I guess I applied for the account around the time my Verizon bill was set to be paid.  The account was approved, Verizon bill posted, statement was cut, reported to the CRAs within 2 days.

Since then the bill hits every month at statement closing date, which has been fluctuating between the 27th & 28th.  Can't pay the account early so it's been hit or miss as to the balance posting on a statement.  So I decide  to go to Verizon and change my billing date to the 23rd and &*%$ if Synchrony didn't close this month's statement on the 24th.

But the other wierd thing is my payment. When I was trying to get the balance paid before the statement cut and reported it takes them two days to post the payment.  It misses the statement and the balance reports.  But here's what's wierd to me, even though the payment isn't reported on the statement and falls to the next period, it doesn't satisfy the minimum due.  Sync says the payment was received the last period and I'm like "well then why doesn't it show on the statement if it was received last period?"

I guess I can try pushing the payment even earlier in the month and let a credit sit there if I want it to report $0.

What is so wrong with card reporting a balance? That's kinda how things work for 99% of population. The limit on it is more than adequate.

If this is another AZEO nightmare, why not just let this card be your AZEO card and be done with it?

Not AZEO but I have several other cards reporting balances I'm trying to pay down and off and was just trying to keep as many accounts as possible showing $0 so as not to tip the balance of too many cards with balances.

does Sync off cycle report in the other direction and report $0 after it's been paid randomly sometimes?

Not that I've seen but I've only had it 6 months.

Re: Synchrony Verizon Visa - Arghhh

@TimFlorida I went through the same thing with this Verizon card. I believe with the same dates. I finally figured it out. Been a while, but I changed my date also. They only let you change the date once a year. I think mine closes on around the 18th now.

It's frustrating because I wanted that card to report zero also. Good Luck.

Re: Synchrony Verizon Visa - Arghhh

@TimFlorida, I hope that you're able to get it figured out after you change the due date.

Best wishes and sorry for the frustration. It can feel like a nightmare when you're trying manage your reporting data and creditors seem to be throwing a wrench in your plans.
