Synchrony shut down my old navy visa..

I used my old navy visa for a few purchases today. The third transaction declined and my online access was restricted. I called and they said it was to make sure it was me making the purchases. She sent a text code to my phone and once I was verified they lifted the block. I asked what prompted it and she could not really tell me. I moved a month ago... and it's the first time I used it in some months. Maybe that was it or is this the big shut down everyone is talking about?

Sounds like fraud prevention. Having recently moved and then using the card after it was dormant for several transactions in a row must have triggered it. But it sounds like things are fine now.

Well I'm glad things worked out for. But this is def not the big shut down everyone is talking about. People have had their accounts frozen (still not certain what triggers this) so credit cards can't be used and can't log into their accounts online either.

Then they receive the infamous blue envelope where Synchrony is requesting you to submit a tax transcript (form 4506). The sad part is that even if you agree to do this - it doesn't guarantee your accounts will be reinstated.

Wow... if that happens to my accounts I don't think I'll bother sending in tax transcripts that seems a little overkill
