Synchrony upgrade store card to Visa?

I recently received a CLI on my banana republic store card and I would rather have the visa branded store card offered by Sync. Has anyone every had their store card upgraded/converted to a visa? Maybe not specifically Banana Republic, but it can be other store cards as well, such as, TJMaxx, JCP, etc..

basically, can this be done? How long do you have to wait till you can be upgraded? Will it be a HP for the upgrade, if at all possible?

I've never received the upgrade on my Gap card. Even with a $9k limit. I don't use it much anymore just sometimes at BR. I've had it over 3 years. Other people seem to get the offers after some time.

Not only that but usually it shows up as a new tradeline.

3 years is a very long time. I frequent Banana Republic and I'd rather receive the 5point/$1 than what the store card offers.

Yes, My Wal-Mart card got upgraded to a Wal-Mart Discover card.  This before Synchrony was spun off on its own.  It was an invitation to do it.  It constitutes as a new tradeline.  It was offered about 6 months into the card.  I used my Wal-Mart store card alot at the time.
