Get an extra 4% Cash Back when you shop with Rakuten and 1% everywhere else.1 No annual fee.2
Rakuten purchases: Earn an extra 4% Cash Back on top of what you earn with Rakuten.¹
Rakuten Dining: Earn an extra 5% Cash Back on top of the 5% Cash Back at Rakuten restaurant partners.¹
Groceries and restaurants: Earn on everyday essentials, wherever you shop or dine.¹
Everything else: Because every purchase, big or small, deserves to be rewarded.¹
Of note, it is capped. Probably still interesting for some though.
"Earn an additional 4% Cash Back on eligible Rakuten purchases (online & in-store), up to $7,000 in a calendar year, 1% Cash Back on eligible Rakuten purchases after the $7,000 cap, on your Rakuten American Express® Card"
Sounds like it can potentially be a lucrative no AF card for those that are vigilent about Rakuten.
Nice find. I think @UncleB might like this one. I had the Comenity Visa Rakuten card before it was discontinued. I don't think this one will last either because of the issuer. It gets old having cards discontinued. Otherwise I'd get it.
"This Card is issued by First Electronic Bank"
So, not an actual AMEX card, just a card that uses the American Express payment network. This is the issuing bank that partners with Cardless.
Not for me but many ppl love Rakuten. Capped 7k is meh but some it will work for. 7k limits caps at $280

Rakuten has confirmed via their official Reddit account that you can have this give you Amex MR if your Rakuten account is set to it. So you will get 4x MR on the $7k of spend on the card per year.

Thanks for the mention, @Hex! ![]()
This one definitely has my attention, but I'm going to wait a bit to see what experience others have before thinking about pulling the trigger myself. ![]()

FEB was also the bank behind Blispay, for what that's worth (not much, but interesting coincidence nonetheless, IMO). 🤔

I'm not trying to be pedantic, but you'll only get the 4x (or 4%) on purchases that successfully track through the Rakuten system.
Any non-Rakuten purchases (or Rakuten purchases that don't track or are ineligible for whatever reason) are at a lower multipler based on the MCC.
