Re: Target Card

I got a Target CC back in 2006.  Got the register receipt saying I'd been pre-approved for the credit card.  I was approved for $5,500.  I was shocked...2005 was a very bad year for me, credit-wise.  Have no idea what my score was at that time.  I used it heavily, and always carried a balance.  Had a lot of "issues" (job loss, etc) and it was nearly maxed out for almost a year.  In January 2012, i called and asked for either a interest rate reduction or credit line increase.  They said no to both (6 yrs of history, always paid on time, 22.9% interest).  I got a cc with NFCU and transfered the Target balance to NFCU and have sock drawered that Target card. NFCU gave me a cl of $14k, so my utilization went from 90% on Target to about 40% on NFCU. so, I wouldn't expect too many CLIs increases from Target, unless they've revised their practices in the last 6 months.

Re: Target Card

I received my Target card in June 2008.  It started with a $200 limit.  After about a month, maybe two, they increased it to $500.  It has been there ever since and when you call for an increase it says they are not doing increases.

I got approved for a Target store CC, but only for $200. So I want to know how often does Target increases your credit limit? Thanks

Oh Goodie I get to Share/Shock another Target newbie!!! LOL

I have 4 Target Red Store Credit Cards - No debit, No visa

1999 - $200 increased to $300 after 6 months and today = $300

2008 - $300 Today = $300

2008 - $200 increased to $1000 bak in 2009 or 2010 I believe right before Christmas many either went to $500 or to $1000 and then it was a screaching hault on CLI again but last year sometime when I paid them all off and had been making REALLY heavy use this one some how increased to $1500.

2009 - $200 Today = $200

I could never figure out the computer system and how it picked my 3rd card to be the only card to EVER get CLI after early 2000 when I got the $100 CLI on my 6 month old account just 6 months after turning 18!

Really I started applying for another Target Card in response to them saying they don't take customer initiated CLI and it really was kind of a joke to even apply because I didn't know or think you could have a 2nd card... but once the 2nd card was given then one day when I was purchasing around $200-$300 I was like Ill apply, I don't care about inq or new account but id take the 10% off for new account! and it approved.

It wasn't until just recently within last 6 months I actually applied for a 5th and got a denial that simply said you can only have 1 target card! I tried to call in and recon based on that statement is not true and it appears and I say only (appears) the the internal system now checks for other accounts and won't allow it to approve because when I spoke with rep about recon and she stated you have another account Target won't allow 2 accounts... I said well I have 4 accounts, so when did Target stop allowing more then 1... She didn't believe me that I had 4 and didn't really have an answer on when Target stopped allowing, becuase she never knew them to allow and it's always odd to me that when they type in my social they don't seem to get 4 accounts that pop up on the computer.. they seem to have to really search and they still area always confused by it....

OOPS, sorry forgot the point of all this... Don't hold your breath on a CLI EVER becuase you will die long before you see it... I think the censes currently and has been for some time is they are currently blocked from issueing CLI at all and reps, managers, etc. have no access or authority to over ride... seems like the computer in the closet that GE has making all the banking decisions!

Re: Target Card

I got my Target card almost 2 years ago, 3000 CL and it has not budged.  I honestly do not expect it to move up either.  Not sure what I could get worth 3k at Target

Re: Target Card

I 'think' I may hold the Target record. I opened a Target account in 1986, yes 1986 with a CL of $200. 20 years later, they gave me a CLI to $500, where it is today. I've used the card here and there to keep it active since its my oldest trade line. Never been late on it, never over limit. It is in my sock drawer because its just pretty silly.

HAHA, sometimes I use to think that my card opened in 1999 was left behind when they took accounts online instead of on paper Smiley Tongue

I had an account that was 6 or 7 digits I believe it was... I think in 2006-8? they moved to 10? maybe 13? I was thinking because they finally ran out of variations!

I always feel that account is just lost in the system, Im lucky to get a statement... I guess it had a $0 balance when If iled Ch 7 because it did not close and then when I filed my ch 13 it had 0 balance also and was left alone and target did not close...

Wow! 1986? I didn't even know that Target stores existed then.

Exactly the case with me.
