Target RedCard CLI Information

Hello!  I've been reading quite a few posts about cardmembers receiving CLI's as part of a new process Target and TD Bank have initiated.  I applied for and received my RedCard in November 2014 and was granted a $300 CL.  Although I don't shop at Target (.com) too terribly much, the $300 line seems a bit inadequate.

I emailed Target.com using their Contact Us link in the credit information page and inquired about a CLI and received this response:

"We're sorry for your disappointment with your credit limit.

At this time, we are not offering instant same day credit limit increases; however, we do have a monthly credit limit review process. To be eligible for that process, we require updated income information on your account. If you qualify for an increase, you will be notified by letter and you will see the increase reflected on your monthly statement.

If you would like to update the income associated with your account to ensure you're eligible for the monthly review, please give us a call at (888) 755-5856, and when prompted indicate you would like to speak to a team member.

Keep in mind, you can view your account summary, add authorized users, set account alerts, and much more online!

Thanks for your patience!

Sincerely,
Target Card Services, servicer to TD Bank USA, N.A"

As per their instructions, I indeed called them and provided the annual income they were requesting to initiate the "review."  The rep. who took my call was well aware of this process so it was a painless, easy 3 minute call.  She did say that it could take up to 30 days for the review.  She seemed to suggest that I would receive some type of written communication regarding my request.

So... this is just a head's up to those of you who would like higher CL's -- there is a way and a process by which Target and TD initiate things.  Hope this helps!

This is some good information. I just called to update mine as well. I have been stuck at $1500 since 2006. I just updated my income using the info you gave. Maybe that's why I have been sticking there so long. Thanks for this!

Re: Target RedCard CLI Information

I have had my redcard for 2 years stuck at 300 dollars. Last December, I called Target and asked to be considered for an increase. Gave them the updated financials and was told I would receive something in the mail within 30 days. I waited 40 days and never received anything. So I called again about 6 weeks ago and was given the same story. 6 weeks later no letter, nothing. If they give you a letter and or cli, be sure to tell us!

I am seeing so many stories lately again about target cli's. It is the one credit card that has never moved from its starting limit for me and I use it a lot but I don't pay them interest and I dont let the statement cut with a balance anymore.

I started with the store card in 2005. About 3 months later they changed it to Visa with $1000.00 limit. And in 2006 they added $500.00 and it has stayed there ever since. So my financials haven't been updated since 2005 and I have had a significant increase in income since then. I am interested to see if anything happens. If not, I may think about closing it out. I only use it at Christmas. Maybe if they bump it I will use it a tad more.

Re: Target RedCard CLI Information

I have been getting pretty regular CLI. I use my card fairly regularly (about $200-$400 per month) and PIF. This is what my credit line has been since I started:

12/2013: $600

05/2014: $800

08/2014: $1100

11/2014: $1500

Given the overall track record for Target and CLI's, I'd say you've done really, really well!  Those are some nice increases there!  Hoping the rest of us who have called in see some type of movement, especially those of us (myself excluded in this case) who have had the Target RedCard for awhile!

Re: Target RedCard CLI Information

To see some people who have received 4-5 target cli's in the past year, I feel is just not the norm with that card.

I think there is a large pool of people out there who have not received a cli ever, too.

I have heard of some people canceling their card to only reapply and be granted a higher limit. Calling Target credit services is like dealing with my insurance prescription provider. Nothing but a run around with representatives in time zones far far away.
