What is happening? They issuing new cards? I can't get through on the phone or online, I am very suprised the target red card data breach is not being discussed on this forum very much.
I haven't read all the posts, as I don't have a Target card. (They denied me back in November- talk about fortuitous ! ) but maybe some of the info you are looking for is here: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-in-the-News/If-you-have-a-Target-Card/td-p/2663633
I used my Red debit card several times during the dates in question.
First I thought I would simply report my card lost to get a new one then decided to play russian roulette and simply monitor charges on my checking account more closely. Just hope I do not have to say better safe than sorry when it is too late. Figured that if Target does not automatically issue new cards then the risk is probably not extreme....we will find out in the future
RE:They haven't issued me a new card yet, but I'm just monitoring my account like I usually do. This breach won't keep me from being a loyal Target customer. I actually applaud them for the way they've handled everything since it data breach has occurred.
I don't applaud them for they way they have been handling anything. They haven't let me know anything. You can't get through on the phone with them. My account is locked so I can't look at it online. They are not telling me anything, You know a letter would be nice or something. I read more about the target red card data problem on capitalone.com than I do on target.com. That is rediculous.
It might keep you from being a "loyal customer" if you were the victim of fraud... and had to pay for something you didn't get. Not saying i wont shop at target anymore just saying I am not going to be a robot and shout there great before we really know what happened....
I received an email from them regarding my Target Visa and although I did not use it at Target during the timeframe when the breach occurred, they're still sending me a new one. So IME, they did fine with letting me know via email, not sure how that panned out for everyone who has a REDcard though. The breach was also discussed by various forum members on this thread as well as under the General Credit Topics section.
