Target Store Card - Best way to get a CLI?

Hey everyone,

So I opened a Target Store card in Sept 2019. with a sl of $300.

I've checked the forums, and some says you need to leave a balance, pay it off etc... I've tried to leave balance on for 3 months, and nothing, I got stressed and pay it back in full. I don't do much shopping (usually just when the girl tells me to pick up something), but I would like to get a nicer limit than $300.

Any ideas on how to increase it or TD just doesn't like me?

Target is an enigma!! No one can really be certain.

I was approved for $2500 in 2018, no CLI for 20 months, but then I was upgrade to MC with limit of $9000 in January. Nothing since.

I spend at least $100 a month. Never a month without spend. I PIF after statement cut. Only 1 month I tried carry. I also update income every month when paying statement.

Re: Target Store Card - Best way to get a CLI?

I started out at $500 and after making a purchase which I PIF they bumped me to $800. I didn't use the card for a few months and made another purchase. This time I let a small balance roll over. Charged a $1 dollar fee for that and they bumped me to $1100.

So who knows what their formula is.

Re: Target Store Card - Best way to get a CLI?

I haven't had any luck getting an increase from TD Bank on my RED Card (on either of my two REDcards- my initial card was only $200- thankfully my new SL was more generous), but I've been reading about it a lot. Here's what I have read:

  • Update income monthly
  • Use card monthly
  • Allow a balance to report
  • Dont't report about 30%
  • Don't have high utilization on other cards
  • Luck

As for that last part, I wish you the best.
