Target Store Card Upgrade to Target Visa - How did you know

Just want to confirm with those of you that received the uprgade if you received the offer via mail. According to their CS reps, not all customers are solicited for the offer and it is done via mail. Macy's let me know they are not legally permitted to change a store card to a VISA card without written consent so I want to see if Target is the same. 

Did you see a CLI increase when you logged in, or did the information not change until you accepted the offer?

I got the target offer in the mail, but I want to say it was more a congrats you have been upgraded.  Not really a question.  In addition it included a CLI to 1k.  Hope that helps.

How long did you have the Target Store Card?  Did you PIF every month?

I got the card back in 02, used it a TON. Never pif'ed, charged and revolved. Then last summer (07), I got the upgrade to Visa, then 6 months after that I got a CLI to 5k! From what I hear around here it may take a while to get to the Visa and I haven't run into anyone yet that has figured out what triggers the Visa upgrade. However eventually you will get it!

Chi - that does help thanks.  I wasn't sure if it was an offer you must accept via mail or if you log in to your account you see it.  However, then I noticed you log in differently for the Target Visa. Do you have to activate the Visa in order to see the change online?  When I spoke to a csr (she was the most helpful so far) she advised there is no rhyme or reason as to who gets the offer. The company runs a program monthly and random card holders are selected --- no one is guaranteed. It is not based on balance, PIF, etc.  She said she has seen a few instances where card holders were upgraded less than a year but that is very seldom.

I really don't want a Target Visa, I like my little red card just fine...wouldn't mind the Macy's though!!!!

I got the notice in the mail and again it was more a congrats. My login is the same, some spot on the website. I know what you mean about it having two different login spots, but when you get upgraded it transfers. I seem to remember that it was seamless.
