After they CLD me from $3000 to $500, always PIF, only have balances on 2 other cards out of the 11 cards I have and not much util% on these two cards, i was still CLD. No problem, i really am not stress about it. But i find it hillarious that i was just sent an invitation from AX for their Platinum card. What is so funny, they start the letter off by saying " since 2006, you have been an outstanding American Express card member - as measured by your tenure and excellent credit history with American Express." It goes on to say we invite you to accept the platinum card available only to our best card members.

WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!

I hope you cancel them...they did the same thing to me.

People will say, "oh no, keep the card...sockdrawer it...etc".

These people fail to realize that low limit cards hurt how other card companies see you (especially a LOW limit Amex) and that a $500 card does next to ZERO to help your utilization or score, unless it's the only card you have.

CAN THEIR BUTTS! 

Don't worry about your FICO score because they already most likely screwed that with their $2500 decrease.  CAN THEM!

No, I wont close it because you never know what will happen in the future. I already used an inquiry for this card. Why waste it by closing it. I have high CL's on other cards so this $500 cl from AX wont hurt. Other companies know what AX is doing and will understand. Also i might get an increase in the future. The way you make them pay is by keeping the account open and only charging a bag of chips every three months on it. I just find it all funny but am very thankful and grateful that i am in a position to laugh and not cry.

Yehhh, AMEX likes to spue contradicting statements. I remember when I had a financial review on their business gold and personal platinum charge, I asked them why all this fuss if I have good credit, excellent payment history, and etc. Before my FR, AMEX sent me a letter saying since I have been a outstanding member and other nonsense, they offered flex pay on my platinum charge on any purchase. The FR officer even said you have such a great account history with us and keep at it! Now we need to see your bank statements and tax returns before opening your accounts. I honestly had it with them. They are ridiculous.

I got a good one.  I recently asked for a CLI on my student card and was denied.  The reason they gave me in the letter... Your Student Account must be open for 5 or more years to be eligible for a credit line increase.  Ridicules.
