The Garden Gameplan

First off, I really appreciate all of your kind words and the warm entrance you've given me into these forums. The advice that you guys have provided me is extremely vaulable and I will be taking a lot of it into deep consideration just like the decision I'm making right now.

My first 2 years of credit history have been excellent and I've learned a lot despite coming into this knowing nothing. As a full-time college student working full-time @ Lowe's, I would say I'm managing myself pretty well on all fronts and we'll only improve from here.

Anyway, as the title suggests, I'll be hitting the garden for quite a while giving myself a chance to focus on what I have in an attempt to grow and prioritize. Here's the gameplan and estimated dates of next action.

Gardening from 09/29/2016 until 03/29/2017 (My Birthday!) then quickly back into the Garden on 03/30/2017 until November/Thanksgiving 2017

- Will be working to consolidate Capital One Journey and QuickSilver One cards into one, eventually applying for Capital One Venture One/Rewards in late 2017

- Will consolidate Chase Disney Premier and United Mileage Plus cards into JPMorgan Ritz-Carlton Rewards Visa Infinite card (raising current CL of $11k to $22k)

- Will attempt to Product Change Barclaycard Rewards MC into something more usefull

- Planning to find a PC/Consolidate plan for my Citi Diamond Preferred & Thank You Preferred, need to get down to only one Citi card

- Planning to upgrade AMEX Green Card to The Platinum Card

- Planning to consolidate AMEX Delta SkyMiles Gold (10k) and Blue Cash EveryDay (1k) into AMEX EveryDay after new application, don't care for cash back

What my wallet will look like by late 2017:*

- American Express Platinum Card

- American Express Preferred Rewards Gold

- JPMorgan Chase Ritz-Carlton Rewards Visa Infinite

- Capital One Venture One/Rewards Visa Siggy

- Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Siggy

- Discover It

*Everything here is subject to change of course, any advice or ideas appreicated, thanks!

Two questions:

Do you need the Platinum and PRG?

Why are you getting rid of your United Card?

Re: The Garden Gameplan

My piece of advice on the Cap One front is to see if they'll PC that Journey or QuickSilverOne into a QuickSilver before you consolidate -- better rewards than a Journey and no annual fee unlike QS1, even though you aren't the biggest fan of cash back it's still worth getting that extra little bit before you get your more ideal card (and likely eventually consolidate into that in 2018, hahaha).  Also, make sure you request CLIs on both cards before you combine because once you combine it'll be 6 months before you can request one -- Cap One's CLIs are soft pulls so it won't pull you out of the garden.

Re: The Garden Gameplan

Believe me, I'm waiting for the no annual fee QS product change offer to come across the table. I personally don't care to have cash back cards, but would only be using it as a stepping stone to Venture One. I find more value in that card overall. CLIs will be requested before anything happens for sure.

Re: The Garden Gameplan

Most likely I'll only keep the Platinum over the PRG, and possibly pick up the EveryDay that earns more membership rewards points. Might cancel United so I can try the Club card in the future, not sure yet though, still planning.
