You're welcome utah, the pleasure is all mine. And thank you back - you made a couple of good contributions.

I look at it this way - for the most part, this credit stuff is very serious, and should be taken serious - for most of us it's a matter of life. But there are moments like these sometimes when it's good to step back and take a look at the lighter side, to remember that  great credit or not, we're all still human and that for a moment at least, what was most important was not the CL you were given, but the fact that you were not turned down (or maybe were) in front of a store full of people...: smileyhappy:

Will they process your app if you are intoxicated? Cause that is my plan.  I will take a cab to the store and back.  Otherwise, forget about it!!

lol, finally a question that I've never seen asked here before! Smiley Very Happy

OK, well in fact, you are not able to enter into a contract if you are underage or mentally incapable, so I suppose technically, there could be a problem.

But I don't know if having a little Dutch courage on board has ever negated an app! I mean, for one thing, think of all the folks who apply online at 11 at night. Smiley Wink

It is pretty humiliating when you get declined in person.  I have strange luck, because I applied online one time and completed the application and got the "processing application will mail you a decision in blah blah blah".  So I called to check the status and the rep told me that the application timed out in the middle of it, and they had never made a decision and for me to re-apply.  So I did, and low and behold I was denied with two inquiries showing.  I think I will apply in person despite the fear of something happened similiar to a "Seinfeld" episode Smiley Tongue

I guess the moral to the "apply in store" story is:  have a backup payment plan.  So buy something you actually need and can afford if the new account is declined.  If the new account is declined, you are simultaneously handing them a credit card.  Later you can call in for a recon.

DH needed a store card so we've been talking about Macy's.

I app'd instore last week and received a (surprising) $1,000 initial CL.  (Good for me - I'm a rebuilder).

Last night while we were birthday shopping at the mall, we thought we'd check out Macy's menswear.  He app'd at the register.  We purchased $540 worth (blazer, ties, pants) and paid $140 after all the sales and discounts.  I love Macy's!  In this case, if they would have declined the app, we would have declined the purchase.  Very happy with the experience at Macy's - plus their salespeople have been top notch!
