The backdoor numbers work :)

Today I took a chance and applied for a Citi Thank You card, got 6k CL. Later on in the evening (after going to see the Avengers, great movie), I decided another hard pull and new acct would not be a bad thing while my score was over 700. So I tried to get AMEX BCE, but the website kept freezing... so I went for a Discover card. Got the 5 to 7 days to decide message... tried to call the number on the website... very busy number. Looked up the backdoor number here, called it and got to talk to a senior credit analysis and she approved me for 4k.

Increased my overall CL by almost 50% today. Now I am definitely in gardening mode till next spring!

The point is never give up, call them, be friendly and respectful... then let everything else fall in place

I recently applied over phone (automated once , CS once) for a CLI on walmart discover and was denied. I love GEMB but one thing I don't like is that they get quarterly CR on you and all the CS people use them. So for instance just last week when the denial came in the mail it was a score from Feb. which sucked after Christmas, I've paid down UTIL a lot since then. So anyway, I called the backdoor number, specialist picked up first ring. Put me hold asked a few questions about other accounts for security and gave me $2000 > $3500 . So I agree backdoor number do work. Even though it feels so weird calling them.

I agree that the back door numbers do work - I applied for a Chase Amazon card and got the 7-10 message... Since I just bought a new car I had no doubt that it was for the excessive INQs.... I called immediately and got 4k.

I myself used the backdoor number for BoA secured card today.

Got a 50% increase, and my initial deposit will be refunded.

So the card will no longer be "secured".

Next will be to drop the HSBC card with low CL and high AF, and I will still have

an increase in my line of credit.

I was fortunate enough to get through on the Discover More number and was

given a decent CL and then dropped the First Premier Card with a low CL

and outrageous AF.

While the backdoor numbers haven't technically "worked" for me...I have to admit while speaking with a Discover rep. I can't wait to actually do business with them. Even though they couldn't approve my app; the lady was really nice and professional and was giving me tips and encouraging me to continue what i'm doing and within 6mth to a year she doesn't see why i couldn't have a card with them. Things like that make me feel better about certain companies. I look forward to dealing with Discover one of these days.

I've only had to call the backdoor number twice. I love coming up with a story about why they should extend me credit, or increase my line.
