Thinking about apping for one card....

I am going on vacation next month. I am thinking I want to apply for a new CC although I should stay in the garden until next year... I don't want to use up all my cash on things like gas. I thought about getting a gas card like Shell but not sure which one would serve me best. If I am going to get a HP should I just app for a reg card instead? My util is at 35% but it will be lower at the end of this month. FYI I have some lates on a joint NFCU cc w/ DH that will be a year old in July...

If you can resist, I wouldn't app yet, you will get an HP and probably either a small CL or a decline.   If gas is a concern, something like the Sallie Mae would be good (5% off the first $250 gas each month, plus the same on groceries, and 5% off $750 per month at bookstores including Amazon) but I think you current score is too low for that, hence the advice to wait a bit.

Thanks for your reply. I have that feeling too... I am trying to resist. I don't need another HP especially if I will get a decline. I do agree that my scores are too low for a Sallie Mae. I was thinking something like Discover (since next quarter will be gas rewards) or BofA. I would really like to apply for my own NFCU card but I am not sure how they will feel since I have those lates on my joint card....
