To Defer or Not To Defer

Hey Gang,

I have the Amex Plum card for business. It gives me the option to defer a partial balance until next statement. I just received the card last month. I can pay it in full with no problem, I just want to know what my options are should I want to increase my cash flow here and there.

Q) Does Amex consider this a red flag as they would on a personal charge card?

Majority will rule on this.

Re: To Defer or Not To Defer

I read many people say they got hit with AA or F/R for taking up Amex on this offer. If they ever offer it to me on my gold I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole. If you were to take them up on it probably not a good idea to carry the balance for more than a month or two.

However I don't recall if the people that got hit were business users or personal. Maybe business would have more leeway. Any reason you wouldn't use a regular credit product from another lender for revolving purposes?

I don't think with this paticular product it's a red flag, but there really is no point to differ... if you differ you loose your 1% or 2% early pay.
The plum card looses ALL it's rewards if you don't early pay.
