Thanks for the advice!

My util is around 10-15% without my moms card, so I may just have her take me off. not sure yet though because the age is helping my AoAA.

I will try to recon both later today/ tomorrow. Doesnt hurt I guess since the HP has already hit.

it's probably helping you a lot more, but you should focus on getting your current credit limits higher first. Remember Citi Forward is considered a Prime card that requires Excellent credit. I doubt many companies would approve you from a personal CL max of $300's to several thousands overnight.  If those are secured cards keep adding balances to it, try to keep your reporting utility to 2% on only 1 card, everything else at 0% is a trick that makes Fico scores happy.

but don't remove your mom's account imo. Just keep feeding your secured cards (i'm assuming they are) and when your mom pays down her cards, or you can feed your secured cards enough to overwhelm her debt you'll be in good territory.

I would love to just stick to my cards but... with cap 1 and orchard. they wont move. Cap1 i get my credit steps CLI in Jan i believe. My VS i'll ask for a CLI in a couple of months. None of them are secured either.  I applied for the student card because I am a student, figuring they may be a bit more lenient... guess not! Smiley Sad

How long have you had your current cards?

I do know that as mentioned Citi is considered prime lender.

Re: Totally Unsucessful Applications - Help!

Orchard will be a year old in January, Cap 1 is 6 months old and VS (opened via SP) is about 2 months old. I have two closed cards paid off (the ones with the lates): BofA was my first card (oct 2007) with a limit of 1500 and then cap 1 was opened in 2010 witha  $300 limit. I was stupid and knew nothing about credit so I closed them and paid them off that way. Smiley Embarassed

Im thinking about applying for Discover More in January after I pay all of my balances off so all that reporting is my moms card with a balance. I used their pre-approval thing on their website and they said that the More is a match to me... so well see.

I wouldn't get too excited about that Discover preapproval. They also "matched" me with the Discover More, and my scores are 50-100pts lower than yours! Lol. But you are more than to get that over any Citi card.

Re: Totally Unsucessful Applications - Help!

Alex, you need to be careful when you apply and make sure you have things in order. I applied for the Citi Forward (I cannot tell if it a student or regular card, but they never asked my for enrollment or any student ID, so idk.) and I ended up getting accepted. Just make sure your utilization is low (dont carry more then 10% unless you know you are going to pay it off soon. CC and lenders HATE HATE seeing large balances, because there is always the potential chance that things can go wrong and you are not able to pay them.) I don't know about considering it a prime card though. Also, I PIF every month before the statement cuts (just pay it a few days before the statement cuts) and keep doing it for 6 months. Then if all looks well and you dont have any other delequencies then apply (check your fico's before applying, Citi usually pulls EX). Discover pulled TU in my area, but you have a better shot with Discover then with Citi. Good luck!

Bank of America: Cash Rewards.- 4.2k. 4/25/12 (CLI Increase 6/15/13, CLI May of 2015, sept 2015), Citi: Forward- 4.5k. 10/27/12 (CLI on 2/8/14, SP, CLI on 9/26/15 sp). Re: Totally Unsucessful Applications - Help!

To the OP....you say you are a student. How much annual income did you report?

Maybe income is the issue???

Re: Totally Unsucessful Applications - Help!

I am a student, which it why I applied for the student Forward. I will be close to $15k this year, but thats just whats reported. I work at a sports bar and make way more than what is reported. I'm probably closer to $25k in income. I dont want to put that incase they ask to verify income.

I also do not pay rent right now, although I have rented in the past and that history shows on my EX report.

Im going to try calling Citi tomorrow for recon and hopfully find out why I was denied.
