I think a large part of the non-embossed and completely printed (i.e. not with raised lettering like the Chase cards) is to save costs and allow for rapid shipment of new cards. Thus, it seems like they'd be able to offer a greater number of designs, perhaps even a "card lab".
The designs posted here seem to make a huge impact, which I think is funny, since I think the standard It design is kind of cartoonish (not at all a fan). I just wish there was more "design" available and less "photo".

I got my new IT card today whoo hoo! it arrived in its own little box with a case that had all of the information. For those of you who wondered, yes, you get 1% right out the door on everything, no need to worry about that pesky $3k spend threshold.
I just got the plain design... Both mine and my husbands cards say Member Since 1999. If only Discover would backdate like Amex hmm.
