Tribute Mastercard Scam Continues

Some of you may remember my original post about Tribute wanting to charge me a monthly maintenance fee because my account had been late "at least once in the past twelve months". Well, I canceled the card and paid the balance over a month ago, and guess what just showed up on my credit report? A $4.95 web payment fee has been posted to my account! I have NEVER been charged a web payment fee before, and now, all of a sudden, because I cancel the account, they've decided to charge me a fee to pay online! It gets better: if my payment is late, I incur a $35 late payment fee. Further, if I pay online--guess what? I will again incur a $4.95 web payment fee. Are these people for real? This can't possibly be legal.

Re: Tribute Mastercard Scam Continues

They posted an announcement on their website that beginning June 15th that they would be charging a $4.95 fee for online payments. I would call and see if they would waive it or do what some people are going and paying them through online bill pay with your bank.
