Ok, so back on 3-10-11 I applied for a US Bank Plat CC. I was denied due to high revolving balance on my $9000 Revolving Line of Credit with Wells Fargo. The line of credit was taken out to pay some medical bills for a knee injury. I'm going to be reimbursed for these expenses this month. I explained that to US Bank and said that I was willing to pay the $8800 balance down to $4300. They said in doing that I would have no problem getting approved for the card as that is the only debt I have. So I paid it down and faxed in the proof last week, now I"m getting the runaround that it isn't enough because I do not use my US Bank checking account that I have. I agree, I do not use it as I work for another bank and I have great perks with them. I explained that it will be PIF by the end of April and they understand that. I have no intention of closing the LOC because I just set it up back in December.
I know I have a thin file. I did notice that my Secured Card that I had with WF isn't reporting on my EQ report. I've had that issue in the past and its a issue on the WF side. I can get it to report for a while and then it disappears again. I told US Bank I had that card for 3.5 years with great history and offered to get proof of that also. That account has been close because I was approved for a $7000 unsecured card with WF now.
They say a Sr underwriter reviewed it and turned it down earlier in the week. I'm not sure what else to do. My EQ is 697, I told you my debt. I was told that it would be approved by paying it down the 50% or more. Now I'm getting lectured that the balance I have in my US Bank Checking doesn't support my ability to be able to pay them back. Well its not going to as I pretty much bank with my employer. I told them I can throw money in that account but I'm not sure what that would do. I shouldn't have to do that to get a credit card with them.
My UTL on EQ is 18% now. Is there something I'm not seeing? I would think they would like to see the 3.5 year history from WF and that should seal the deal but they do not seem to want to see that. Any suggestions?
Just my opinion, you don't need them. They got ya begging , jumping through hoola hoops all for a card that's not all that. I actually closed the USBANK Platinum card due to the rewards are just ok. I replaced them with NFCU, USAA, and my local credit union which is very good to me. I decided with this economy and job market like it is I only need 5 credit cards. 2 NFCU nrewards w/no annual fee, 2 USAA Amex/Mastercard w/no annual fee with good rewards , and last my local credit union mastercard with the lowest interest rate of 8.99% that will not change. I figure keep those 3 happy, and sit back and get cli's, and all the products I need from those 3 , no need to waste inq on accounts I will end up closing anyways! I waste the inqs on cli's every yr. Ya know what they have never denied cli's,. In my opinion Banks and Stores need US not the other way around.
I agree with armywifey on this one. Unless there is a specific reason why you NEED a US Bank CC I would say look elsewhere.
No specific reason other then they seem to have good CS and are local to my geographic location. Just makes me mad that I was told what to do, did it, and am now getting a totally different story.
Bed Bath and Beyond MC, backed by US Bank

That is the most frustrating aspect.
No matter what you decide about still trying for the card, I'd give the bank president a nicely worded letter.

Are you saying that your current open lines are only the newly opened WF card (7000 CL) and WF theLOC?

I can't say with mathematical precision, but I'd say you have a decent chance. The cost is minimal to try and, even if you fail, bank executives do need to know when their employees suffer from a lack of integrity -- and promising something and then trying to weasle out of it is all about integrity in my book.
I may try to go that route. I have a friend who works in the executive office at the bank I work for. She knows exactly what to write. She helped me out when I had ID Theft. Anything that comes into them is basically supposed to be resolved in the favor of the customer...pending the customer has a valid point. I could fill you all in on ways to get stuff removed from your CBR's and so on. Executive offices are the way to get your point across.
I think I'm going to call today just to see what the last review answer is. The last person I spoke just made it sound like since I do not bank with them much that was the deciding factor. I think that is a joke. Another kid there told me he said it helped that I was a US Bank customer for 7 years. Conflicting stories!
