Two Capitol One Cards Question

Ok, so I know Capitol One only allows two cards. Here is the question. I have two, and possibly three if HSBC goes the way of Cap One. I have one Platinum with a $1000 CL open for 4 years and one rewards with a $750 open 5 months.

These are my lowest lines.  My scores are whats in the footer.

My question is, would you loose the $750 now that my scores are decent and have a shot at a better card with Capitol One?  Ive read where folks have been getting thier Cap One Plats upgraded to venture. I assume I would not even be looked at because I have two.

That being asked I have to take into consideration the HSBC BBRZ MC is my oldest account at 7 years and a $700 CL

Any thoughts?

Thanks for any comment Smiley Happy

Call them and ask if they can PC one of your cards to Venture?

Re: Two Capitol One Cards Question

I thought about that, but I didn't want to initiate anything if possible to avoid a hard pull. Everyone I saw was getting the offer through the "modify your features" button. And I'm not in a hurry, I have high CL with chase and boa.

Thank you for the input.

Re: Two Capitol One Cards Question

Well curiosity got the better of me.

Talked to a account specialist supervisor (arent I important LOL) They didnt even offer to pull a report, just said no go to a product change, however he stated that Capital One just unfroze institutional CL increases and that it was only done 3 weeks ago.

He said that good customers such as myself (LOL) would start recieving CLI's in the mail and that I would have to call in and decline the increase!!!! WHAHOO!

So I closed one card that was a year old and kept the 4 year plat Smiley Happy

There was the small amount of prodding to keep the card, but it only lasted about two min.

End of story Smiley Happy

Re: Two Capitol One Cards Question

Good to know they're loosening the purse strings. Did you try getting them to at least PC the plat card to a rewards card? Their rewards are pretty decent. Not outstanding, but decent.

Re: Two Capitol One Cards Question

I called a few months ago about adding rewards to my plat visa and they flat out said no and that I could apply for the rewards card but they couldn't add it to an existing account... Wonder if that's changed too now??

Re: Two Capitol One Cards Question

Did you try the online tool they have to convert your cards to rewards cards? I was able to add rewards to both my Platinum cards via their online tool.

Anyone know if Crapital One consolidates credit limits from two cards into one? I'm looking to keep just one of my cards open, as I have no need for two of their cards anymore, as both are sock drawer'd anyway...

Re: Two Capitol One Cards Question

They didn't offer anything besides the incredible story they gave me lol. I tried the manage my feature button many......many...many times, no go.

I know it's not my scores. Mid 700's on all.

I think that they have a particular card that is only going to do what it is limited to, no matter what your situation is.

My thought was closing one card would get me out of the two card category. Maybe instead of getting offered a low end plat this time, might get a better offer for a better card down the road.
