Re: Two different questions (regarding opening a new card and upgrading another)

Correct.  I was shocked too at first! lol.  After I joined I sent requests to all my credit card companies and companies I had any kind of loan with (auto) and was pleased to find out that not only did the companies that I held a balance with but also those companies that had a zero balance for a while also lowered my interest to 4%.  It's been that way ever since and all of them acknowledged and told me that I will remain having this low interest rate until I seperate from the Military, which I do not plan on doing.

When reading the act though it definitely does word it like it is only for debt that already is there prior to joining.  But every company gave it to me, so it must be right. IDK, I am not asking questions haha, I will enjoy it Smiley Happy

Re: Two different questions (regarding opening a new card and upgrading another)

I was just thinking about this again. The reason you were not immediately approved for the BoA card was because the computer is not able to approve a CC with such a high credit line. An actual human probably has to look over the app and agree with the computer that yes, he does deserve a 10K CL.

The same thing has happened on this forum before but its been a while ago. Not too many people get huge CL when cards are first issued.

Re: Two different questions (regarding opening a new card and upgrading another)

If you are still in the military; or if you have an active duty roommate; sinking; parent or grandparent that is Retired from the military you should join NFCU today!

Ok so I kept reading and decided to edit. Nfcu offers the best credit limits out of any of the major banks and credit unions. I personally have a 25k card; an auto loan at 4% another auto loan at 1,79% as well as a line of credit at 15k. Navy fed has branches at most of the military installations and they have 100% 24/7 us based customer service.

Re: Two different questions (regarding opening a new card and upgrading another)

webhopper, yes I am still in the military.  I have heard a lot of good things from NFCU so I will probably look into them and their offers for next time.  I also have good experiences with USAA as well.  USAA is where I got my 11k CL AMEX from.  Thanks for the input!

Re: Two different questions (regarding opening a new card and upgrading another)

No problem and thank you for your service! Nfcu Flagship Rewards comes with no Foreign transaction Fees. Right now they are doing 1.49% on autos for 36 months or 1.79% for 60 months. Their loan programs are super easy. I applied over the phone and then had a loan check in hand for 45k within two days. They are great about answering our questions. DH joined when he was in the USMC. He has the Platinum and the Flagship. I have the cashrewards and the Navcheck. They also do collateral loans such as planes; motorcycles; boats; RVs.

Re: Two different questions (regarding opening a new card and upgrading another)

Thanks, I appreciate that.  And that is great to know!  Those are awesome promotions.  I am not in the market for a new vehicle or anything right now, but when I am I will defintely have to check them out.  Maybe in a few years.  I have two auto loans right now, one with Chase, and another with fifth third bank, each one is capped at 4% thanks to the service member civil relief act.  Not too bad, but that 1.79% is a lot nicer looking than my 4% lol.  There is only a couple thousand left on each one anyways though so no big deal.

Re: Two different questions (regarding opening a new card and upgrading another)

Ya its cool they do odd promos throughout the year. They gave me and DH $100 each just for opening an IRA with a minimum deposit of $50. They also do 0% for 12 months promos usually at the first of the year. There are always no BT fees. I transferred a part of my student loan balance over to them which was at 7.5% My utilization is higher than normal because of that but its saving me a lot of $$. The 4% loan i have with them was a refi from another lender. They dropped my rate from 7.5% to 4% and gave me a $250 bonus just for refinancing.
