I bet joining the California Consumer Council would be free if the promo code 'consumer' still works...

They haven't updated their web site. Kinda like how I haven't updated my low APR credit card chart...

But the important part is not where they mention the old 5.9%, but where they mention the rate starts at Prime + 2.65% and since the Prime Rate increased to 3.5% that means the current rate starts at 6.15%

Smiley LOL I did kinda double take when I saw some rates as of 2012  Smiley Surprised

RBFCU Premier Rate card lowest APR is 7.95% with 3.9% APR for 12 months on BTs made within 90 days of account opening. Membership requires $5 in a savings account and you can qualify by joining the American Consumer Council for free.

Only Texas residents can join that way. Those out of state must join Texas PTA.

Re: UFCU $0 BT and 5.9% APR

Perhaps Sunflower Bank would be the easiest way to go. Its not a credit union, so doesn't have the issues with membership restrictions. Of course, they could still say you are outside of their area...

Their Platinum card still says it is 6.00% APR (as of 2014). So, most likely it is really 6.25%

No annual fee.

No balance transfer fee.

No Cash Advance fee.

1.0% Foreign transaction fee

Re: UFCU $0 BT and 5.9% APR

FYI...I tried to join UFCU. Things were going well until the obscure set of verification questions. I think they got me with "What year was your home built"? After failing this test, I could go no further. I emailed for support regarding the failed verification and potential credit inquiries and received the following earlier today:

Thank  you for your email. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced trying to complete the online Membership application. To offer some piece of mind, the application is not doing any hard pulls from your credit report. If you are not making it through the verification process, then you will need to go into any UFCU branch for immediate assistance with opening the account.

I'm probably not gonna drive from Delaware to Texas to join a credit union so I guess it's no soup for me!

Re: UFCU $0 BT and 5.9% APR

Turns out you do not have to be a member to apply for a credit card. I applied on Tuesday. Got a call from a loan officer today. I was declined for "too many new accounts". I tried to attempt a recon based on my rebuilding and trying to replace a few of my high interest cards with lower interest cards. No dice. I don't know which version they use but they pulled EXP. My Fico 8 according to CCT right now is 673. Bummer.
