Wondering if the name change had more to do with it than anything else and Chase dropped the ball on that one. Because other than that I don't see anything wrong with your situation unless I'm missing something.
Remember... there is more going on than what you typically are involved with personally. With the recent Equifax data breach, banks are struggling with the reality that comes from all of that personal information about customers being out in the wild now. It's a risk group's worst nightmare realized.
At the same time, they're dealing with an increase in fraud attempts along with different vectors of attacks being used by fraudsters.
This is causing organizations sometimes to be a bit gunshy on transactions, especially when they don't have an established history or pattern to match it against or in the case where you might deviate from what you do normally.
Interesting. I posted some time ago about a co-worker having this exact same issue with his Chase cards...and it all started about a week after he applied for the Ritz (approved for $10k). At first they were telling him that it was fraud system catching his charges and initially they were clearing them when he called in. About a week or so later they locked his Ritz, Southwest, IHG, and Amazon for "review". Two weeks pass and the end result was they closed all of his account because they said he had too much credit, too many recently open accounts, and to many inquiries. He tried to get them reinstated with no luck. His utilization wasn't very high and he wasn't carrying much of a balance either.
If you look through the forum, back around April/May of this year is when a few threads of such started popping up. Hopefully all is well when they finish their "review" of your accounts. Chase can be interesting sometimes...good luck to you!
