US Bank PC question ?

Hello MyFico members

My impatience is slowly getting over me Smiley Embarassed and therefore I would like to ask if anybody has successfully PCd a US Bank card to Cash+ in less than a year time? If yes at which age did it get approved....like 6 months, 9 months, etc.

I know my plan is 1 year but figured I would ask if there could be a slight chance to get my "dream card" earlier....Smiley LOL

Re: US Bank PC question ?

I tried PCing the Kroger card to Ralph's and was told to reapply. That was my only experience with US Bank PC. I think the cobranded cards have different rules. Sorry not much help.

Re: US Bank PC question ?

I just tried to see what would happen by asking if the Perks+ could be converted to Cash+ @ 3 months now.... result as expected -  No offer at this time to PC.  US Bank asked me to call back in July. @6 months mark... Any other result would have been a big surprise but I figured I had nothing to loose by  simply asking.  Pre-qualified is Cash rewards only  at this time Smiley Sad  but I am not interested in a new app anyway. So patiently waiting and in July  a retry.

If anybody has any info on own PC experience please even leave a comment if this thread is old  when you see it.... I am still interested to see if there are success stories in less than a year's  time.

Thanks in advance.

Re: US Bank PC question ?

Had called today - a couple of hours ago. Trying to get my REI PCed to Cash+. The card is about 20 months old but still no dice.

CSR said no offers are showing up. Dunno when they even show up. Apparently they do show up now and then. But not for me.

20 months... ups.. that is sad news. Could it be that it is a Rei card?  Do they even PC co-branded cards?  If you check your pre-approvals what do you get?

The moment I get Cash+ I will call again but right now it shows Cash rewards only for me.  But with 5 TU HPs  and 50% of new accounts  that does not surprise me.  Maybe it is time to freeze ARS and IDA. Not sure if they do pre-approvals from ARS ?

US Bank almost never PC their cobranded cards. Ghoshida why don't you like your REI card? I thought about applying.

Generally when I check prequals on US Bank I don't get a fixed APR so I'm never sure if they're BSing or genuine. BTW they show me 3 cards: Visa Platinum, Cash Rewards Visa, and Club Carlson Premier.

I know that the last one is a good card to have in general, but not sure why the other two cards are coming up. I ask for best offers without any rewards bias.

My reports are frozen though I'm opted-in for pre-screens. That may have to do something with weird pre-quals. Also, they may not show me any more Cash+ because I already have one.

It's not that I dislike the card. However, if I get the Cash+, I can use it on the 5% sporting goods + another 5% category. My annual purchases from REI do not exceed $1000 so having a card specifically doesn't make a lot of sense. Also, REI's current policies get me their rebates around this time of the year; OTOH with Cash+, I can redeem for cash at my leisure.

I got this card when I was new to credit; it started at $1k and took more than a year to get its first CLI. The APR is 22.99% which I got down today to 14.99% for 6 months. Doesn't matter but kinda tells you where I started with this card.

If you're a heavy spender at REI and your annual spending is over Cash+'s limits, you're definitely better off with this card. However, apart from that 5% in rebates, the card doesn't offer anything extra. I'm a member anyway; so all discount offers etc comes to me regardless of whether I have this card or not.

The 2% on groceries is nothing compared to 5% of Sallie Mae or even 3% of BCE.

Yes. I PC-ed a Cash Rewards two months after getting it. But I already had the 5K+ Credit Limit.

Thanks lg. I think you talked me out of it. Maybe Flexperks is a better route for me.
