US Bank Platinum Visa

Anyone had this card ? I was pre-qual on their site, seems like a basic card with decent APR, and no annual fee's.  It's also advertised as "generous credit lines"...what does US BANK consider generous ? Anyone ever responded to their pre-quals ? Is it as good as pre-approved ?

About $215,000 total credit among 11 cards

Re: US Bank Platinum Visa

US Banks prequals are anything but. Nothing guaranteed about them, they are just marketing tools. The platinum is a pretty worthless card unless your not looking for any frills and US bank is very conservative and practically manually reviews every app. Generous CL's? Who knows for sure I would think it would depend on your overall profile.

Re: US Bank Platinum Visa

I just cold app'd US Bank on Saturday for the flex perks visa siggy.  Said what most get:  Reviewing my app (manually I suppose) and will let me know.  At least no flat out denial.  You won't know unless you try.  Smiley Wink

Re: US Bank Platinum Visa

I also have this card... Started with a $5k credit line 3 years ago and it remains the same today. Don't use it much because it has no rewards. I also have their cash plus visa which gets a bit more use because of the cash back. That was opened with a $7500 credit line and has never changed.
It's almost as if you have to ask them to increase your credit line (which I never have)

Re: US Bank Platinum Visa

US bank offer SP CLI (up to $4500) on my little used Cash+ and Club Carlson several time a year, since my CL is already 5 digs, I do not need more CL from them.

Re: US Bank Platinum Visa

Yep, I have it.

It was pretty much my first card on my credit rebuilding journey. I now use it about once every 6 months just to get it activity.

It's true it's a very basic card, no thrills, apr can be decent.

I recommend getting some like a Cap One quiksilver if you can help it, it gives you cashback at 1.5%.

Also in my experience any time I was prequalifed, I got the U.S. Bank card twice.

Re: US Bank Platinum Visa

US Bank Platinum was my first unsecured card, after having a secured card for a year. They gave me a $8,500 starting limit, which was awesome.

Later when I had more credit cards, I was able to PC it to a Cash+. Of my two Cash+ cards, the one that started as a Platinum has a much better APR.

Re: US Bank Platinum Visa

I never any problems with US bank. There is no heavy talk about US bank taking AA on cardholders like the other well known lenders. Don't have to name them... It's a local on my end and they haven't let me down.

I believe they can improve their app.

Re: US Bank Platinum Visa

Agreed with this.

U.S. Bank does seem to be a very stable CC to have. They are very conservative to start with, so they don't immediately start people with over crazy SL, but it's probably the only CC I feel confident swipping with not reviewing my accounta weeks or months prior.

You never know with Chase, Amex, Barclay due to alot of AA reports.
