Thanks for all the help! I'll be sure too look over the first year promotions for the card. One last question.. their website doesn't say anything about this, but when you apply online does it give an instant decision?

Yes, it gives an instant decision. I have both the MC and AMEX USAA cards, and I have Cash Rewards on both. I got both recently.

Hey, you're right, I just looked. I could swear that the AmEx used to be points only. Just when I switched the MC a couple of months ago so that both cards would be on the same program! Ah, well.
