USAA Cash back Rewards Plus Amex Changes

I got a letter yesterday about my USAA Amex and noticed online that the CBRP Amex has changed. They have separated military base purchases and gas purchases so that gas is 3k per year at 5 percent cash back and military base purchases are now 5k a year at 5 percent cash back. They are also now offering 3k per year at 3 percent cash back for groceries.

These changes don't beat certain other offers out there but it is still nice that USAA has made the card better and allows more cash back then it did previously. Also it's nice that groceries and gas can earn decent cash back using the same card up to the limits.

USAA has updated its Cash Back Rewards Plus Amex: gas now earns 5% up to $3,000 per year, military base purchases 5% up to $5,000, and groceries 3% up to $3,000. While the caps mean it may not beat top cards, it’s still an improvement, offering solid rewards on everyday categories with one card.
