USAA has sent out an e-mail to Limitless cardholders (2.5% cash back on all purchases) stating that April 26, 2022 it will be converted to the Preferred Cash Rewards card (1.5% cash back on all purchases). Thankfully you’ll earn an additional 1% cash back until December 31, 2022 (meaning 2.5% cash back total)
Effective April 26, 2022, your USAA Limitless Cashback Rewards will automatically be converted to the Preferred Cash Rewards Visa Credit Card. Your new Preferred Cash Rewards Visa Credit Card will earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every Qualifying Purchase1. We recognize that this product change reduces the amount of cash back you will earn on purchases. To show our appreciation for your loyalty, you will automatically earn an additional 1% cash back, totaling 2.5%, on Qualifying Purchases through December 31, 2022. Additionally, tax payments will no longer be eligible for cash back.

I was looking up info about the old 2.5% card before I called to cancel my 1.5% USAA Preferred Cash Rewards card today (I know they don't do product changes, but I was willing to ask), and discovered that it's going away completely.

The old USAA 2.5% Limitless CC that some people were "lucky" enough to get in on (it was only offered in specific states for a short amount of time) is being downgraded to USAA's normal 1.5% card, with them still receiving an additional 1% until December as a consolation prize.
I was always sort of jealous I didn't get in on that, even though I have AOD now and it's better (we use USAA for auto loans and our insurances). It would have made a great backup to AOD.
Oh well.

@unsungivy - please reference existing discussion on this topic upthread.
I'm still mad about this and I did send USAA a message about my dissapointment. Never heard back and I do not expect to, but it felt good to send it! One would think they would reply to a 37 year member.
Like Uncle B, I might try the Vemno card but it seems a bit sketchy to me. Not sure why, maybe it is the issuing bank? Or. maybe I do not trust how they will "code" the transactions.
I do have a Citi Double Cash, and it may become the go to card. If any one has other ideas that have not yet been mentioned, pleasse share. The clock is ticking!

The closest thing I have to the Limitless is the Double Cash/Rewards+ combo, which is 2.22%... honestly for my small non-category charges this is really fine. I guess that's the blessing/curse of having dedicated category cards to cover nearly everything, LOL. 🙄
About the Venmo Visa, so far it's been solid for me. While not a Limitless replacement it's taken over Walmart and Sam's Club duties from my Limitless, and so far all WM/Sam's charges have coded as grocery, earning 3% (I only use the Venmo card for WM/Sam's). I don't love being forced to use an app to manage it (I prefer my laptop) but I knew what I was getting myself into when I applied, so I can't complain.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm curious, the Double Cash/Rewards+ combo????

With the Citi Rewards+ you get 10% Points Back when you redeem, up to the first 100,000 points redeemed per year. If you have a Rewards+ and other Citi cards you can merge your ThankYou Points accounts, so all redemptions from the merged account get 10% points back.
In my case I have the Rewards+, Double Cash and Custom Cash... my Double Cash effectively earns 2.22% and my Custom Cash effectively earns 5.55%. I say 'effectively' since the extra amount is delayed but you do get it. A little clunky compared to the straight-forward rewards of the Limitless, but definitely manageable.

Excellent - thanks for the reply. I may look further in to this.
I just realized that the time is nearly here for the USAA Limitless to to be transformed into a glorified Quicksilver.
I take that back, not even glorified... at least the Quicksilver doesn't annoy me with false fraud alerts (and declines) like USAA cards do.
Anyway, my days of having a 2.5% 'everything' card are about to come to a close. ![]()
