I had a USAA credit card for three years and just closed it out as it only had a $250,00 CL. USAA just pre approved my for a car loan with 4,25% APR when I called and looked it up on the website said Fair credit. TU FICO 773, EQ FICO 755. The Rep said my credit is just OK, and I will most likely not get a better credit card with USAA.
Prior to closing the card, had you ever requested a CLI?
I been with USAA for almost 20 years now and they are about the cheapest SOBs when it comes to giving out credit and underwriting standards are very strict. Credit card lines, APRs all that are not exciting at all. Navy or PENFED beats them hands down. When it comes to baking and insurance however USAA wins hands down.

Yes, twice and nothing.
Agree whole heartedly with poster above... Tougher with credit product requirements these days as they try to become more of a "commercial" bank than they were in the past, when it was geared more towards service members and their families. Insurance and customer service is top-notch tho! Did a VA motgage one time through them and was shocked at the requirements above and beyond any other bank while I was rate shopping. Loyalty made me grit it out with the process but service after closing was great. I have 2 credit cards with them and they are about 9 years old, never offered a CLI once. NFCU can't stop giving them to me!!
uhhg, i'm about to ask for a 6 month CLI. I hope it isnt a wasted pull.

I had my USAA MC for 1.5 yrs before I had to ask for a CLI last summer...They doubled it to $12k. Low 700''s, clean EQ, 4-5 new accounts (3 mos. old)
